Chalkida Sightseeing

Our tour begins at the Tower of Vasiliko, located at the entrance of the village of Fylla. This square tower, one of the largest in Evia (approximately 8 x 8 meters), was built in the late 14th century during the Venetian period of Chalkida. We then head uphill to the Castle of Likarios, also known as Kastelli, which overlooks the village and offers breathtaking views over the Lelantine Plain. The castle’s history is closely linked to the legendary knight Likarios — a figure shrouded in myth and worth discovering.

We continue to the Monastery of Saint George Arma, a spiritual haven with centuries of history and a peaceful atmosphere. Returning toward the city, our next stop is the Folklore Museum of Chalkida, which offers a glimpse into the daily life and traditions of the past. We then explore the architectural complex of the Vailos Residence – Historic Mansion on Paidon Street – Emir Zade Mosque, a remarkable example of the city’s multicultural heritage.

Our next destination is the Church of Saint Paraskevi, which exudes the unique charm and aura of old Chalkida. From there, we admire the impressive Kamares, remnants of the city’s old aqueduct, and make a stop at the iconic Red House. Just a few steps away lies the House with the Statues, a striking building in Malliou Square. Built in 1891 by the Mallios family, it earned its name from the four statues atop the roof — two male and two female figures.

Our cultural route continues with visits to the Archaeological Museum of Chalkida “Arethousa” and the War Museum of Chalkida, where rare exhibits showcase key moments in the region’s history.

Of course, no visit to the city would be complete without the Old Evripos Bridge, where we witness the famous tidal phenomenon — a natural marvel with shifting currents that change direction every six hours, still unexplained by science.

We conclude our tour at the Karababa Fortress (Kánithos), proudly standing across from the city. From here, the view over the Evripos Strait is breathtaking. Inside, the Museum of the Western Bastion completes the experience with a look into the fortress’s strategic past.

We end our day with a delicious meal along the seafront of Chalkida, enjoying local flavors by the water.

10. CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations of participation by the traveler are made only in writing to our office and, regardless of the date of the reservation. Specifically:

a) In the event of cancellation of the tour 11 days before departure, a 100% refund will be issued.

b) In the event of cancellation of the tour 10 to 7 days prior to departure, the reservation will be transferred to another person under the conditions stated in Article 6 of the General Terms of Participation.

c) If a replacement (substitute) cannot be found, the money can be credited to a later trip within a 3-month period.

d) In the event of cancellation of the tour from 6 days up to the day of departure, the full amount is withheld.

.Charges are made regardless of the time of registration or whether the corresponding amounts have already been paid by the travelers or not. If one of the two people who have chosen to stay or are staying in a double room cancels their participation, they will pay the corresponding cancellation fees Since the above cancellation fees do not equal 100% of the total trip value, the person who will travel in the end will also pay the difference of their room, as they will have to stay in a single room. In the event of a cancellation of the trip by our Tourist Office and if the time of booking allows it, the following deadlines for informing the Traveler are followed:

a) 7 days before the departure date, when the trip lasts more than six (6) days.

b) 5 days before the departure date, when the trip lasts between four (4) and five (5) days.

c) 3 days before the departure date, when the trip lasts between two (2) and three (3) days.

d) 48 hours when the trip lasts one (1) day (Day trip).

11. ADJUSTMENT OF DIFFERENCES

Our Travel Agency and the traveler are committed to resolving in good faith any disputes that may arise during the performance of the organized travel contract.. If a friendly resolution of the dispute is not possible, the courts of Chalkida are responsible.
