Today we're taking an exciting tour of North Manhattan. We start from the circular square with the statue of explorer Christopher Columbus, which serves as a reference point for measuring distances in the city. We will then visit the Lincoln Center complex, home to the Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera – a perfect spot for classical music lovers. Following a brief stop at Central Park, one of the world's most popular parks filled with picturesque lakes, beautiful fountains, playgrounds, a small zoo, etc. We continue with the historic Columbia University, the most important university of theoretical sciences in New York and one of the top universities worldwide. He has been associated with many Nobel laureates and prominent politicians, writers, scientists, and journalists. It is the institution that awards the Pulitzer Prizes for journalism and the arts. Following is the neighborhood of Harlem, formerly known as the Mecca of African-American culture. Here is the famous Apollo Theater, one of New York's most iconic theaters, where top names in jazz, soul, funk, and R&B have performed.
Crossing the heart of the famous 5th Avenue with its famous fashion and jewelry stores, we will meet the Rockefeller Center, a landmark of the city, one of the largest private complexes in the world owned by the eponymous family, in one of its skyscrapers is the Top of the Rock Observatory with breathtaking views of all of Manhattan. Our last stop is the famous Times Square, the city's most vibrant spot and the world's busiest square, where millions of visitors are dazzled by the illuminated skyscrapers with their colorful neon signs that truly make night into day. Nearby is the fabled Broadway, the entertainment industry's center, where one can enjoy the most spectacular shows in the world. Our second city tour today is dedicated to the South Manhattan area, the most historic and multicultural side of New York City. Following a course parallel to the East River, we will pass by the piers of East Manhattan, with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. We will stop at the United Nations Headquarters, the headquarters of the organization that was founded in 1945, immediately after World War II, with the aim of maintaining international peace and security, studying international economic trends, cooperating among nations to resolve international crises, and protecting human rights. Next, we will visit Grand Central Station, a symbol of the city, where at least 750,000 people pass through its grand central hall every day.Next, we'll see the impressively architectural Flatiron Building and pass through Greenwich Village with its picturesque streets and artistic atmosphere – a reference point is Washington Square and New York University. Following SoHo with its art galleries and trendy stores, Little Italy and the colorful Chinatown are two of the most vibrant neighborhoods in New York City, where its multicultural identity is palpable. We arrive at the financial center of the city and the global economy, Wall Street, with the famous bronze statue of the bull, a symbol of financial power. Immediately after, we come across Ground Zero with the monument dedicated to the victims of September 11.Next to it is the new economic center, the One Word Trade Center. There is also the much-discussed Calatrava Station, known as Oculus, a building of special architecture with white as the dominant color, which impresses both internally and externally - it is considered the most expensive station in the world, with a cost of 4 billion dollars. Next, we'll enter the famous Chelsea Market, where history meets flavor. Free time to buy local products and try famous delicacies. The High Line is also located here – a wonderful elevated garden on the old railway line, where one can walk above the city with a view of the neighborhoods of Manhattan. Our tour continues with a Cruise to the Statue of Liberty, a global symbol of freedom, democracy, and justice, which has been located in the harbor of New York since 1886.During the cruise, we will see the Brooklyn and Verrazano bridges, Governor's Island, the iconic Staten Island Ferry, the historic Ellis Island, and more, and we will have the opportunity to take panoramic photos of New York and New Jersey.
After the cruise, we will visit the newest "neighborhood of the future," Hudson Yards. Skyscrapers made of glass, dozens of shops, restaurants with famous chefs, and the impressive metal structure The Vessel, which looks like a giant beehive, make you feel like you're in a science fiction movie. Return to the hotel and get ready for your night out in the "city that never sleeps".The first stop on our tour today will be the Public Library, one of the most important research libraries in the United States. It is a beautiful building both externally and internally, where marble, frescoes, wooden works and quiet spaces for reading and studying dominate. We continue in the footsteps of the main characters of the famous series "Sex and the City", Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda. Beyond 5th Avenue, where the four friends spent most of their time shopping, we will visit Magnolia Bakery, where the group used to enjoy the famous cupcakes, and Carrie's house, where the famous series was filmed. Continuing our stroll in the West Village, we will pass by the building where the hugely successful TV show "Friends" was filmed, which was also very popular in Greece, thus completing our special stroll! Our tour continues in the Dumbo area of Brooklyn, named after the initials Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, which offers unique photographic opportunities, with the Manhattan Bridge and the Empire State Building as a backdrop. This area reveals a different, more authentic and artistic side of New York City. There, we will walk through neighborhoods that evoke another era with their cobblestone streets and old warehouses that have been converted into galleries, cafes, and modern lofts. The famous 19th-century brownstone houses are a landmark, and the quiet streets and well-manicured trees of Brooklyn Heights give the neighborhood a sense of elegance. Although the area caters to classic tastes, you don't have to be an expert to enjoy the rustic architecture of one of Brooklyn's most stylish neighborhoods. In this historic and impressive area is the Timeout Market, a diverse market with restaurants from top chefs with specialties from around the world. We'll take a stroll along the river, overlooking the Manhattan skyscrapers, and have the opportunity to enjoy food and drinks in a unique setting among the grand Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.
From there, we'll have the chance to walk over the East River on the Brooklyn Bridge, with Manhattan as our final destination! The Brooklyn Bridge, one of the city's most iconic architectural works, connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn and is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States (1883).An iconic element of the image, but also of everyday life in New York. It has become a symbol of the city since its opening and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1972. Back at the hotel, we were filled with images, feelings, and experiences from the authentic New York! For the evening, we suggest visiting one of Manhattan's most authentic jazz bars, with live music, food, and drinks. For those of you who come to New York for the cheap deals, a visit to its largest, richest, and most impressive shopping center, located about an hour from Manhattan, is a must: the famous Woodbury Commons is world-renowned for its best prices on designer products. Here, the shops are spread out over a large open space that resembles a small village. An incredible variety of over two hundred and twenty fashion names (Gucci, Guess, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Max Mara, Ugg, Nike, Adidas, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Burberry, Timberland, DKNY, Versace, Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.), as well as many restaurants and cafes. It's no coincidence that the majority of Americans choose this place for their shopping. If you want to stay in the city center, 5th Avenue has many shops and department stores. You can also combine shopping at Macy’s, considered the world’s largest department store of its kind...in the city center, with a visit to the Empire State Building, the 102-story skyscraper that has dominated the Manhattan skyline since 1931—an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of the city. If you want to see New York from above, there are five observation decks in Manhattan: the Empire State Building, the Top of the Rock, the One World Observatory, The Edge, and the Summit-One Vanderbilt. Another suggestion is to explore Soho, Chelsea, and the East Village, where the high society resided until 1900, then was inhabited by immigrants, and from the 1950s onwards the area became the Mecca for the generation of hippies and punks - a laboratory of experimentation and new trends.
For today's free day, we suggest visiting one of the richest museums in the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where works of inestimable value from every culture are gathered. It is the third most visited museum in the world, after the Louvre and the British Museum. Its permanent collections include works of art from classical antiquity, ancient Egypt, Byzantine and Islamic art, paintings and sculptures by leading artists, as well as an extensive collection of American, African, Asian, and contemporary art, and much more. Surely, one day is not enough to explore it entirely.
Free day until we are transferred to the New York airport. Then, a night flight to Athens.Returned to Paris in the evening.
Arrival in Athens.Returned to Paris in the evening.
