Festive Belgrade - Novi Sad - Sremski Karlovci

Description

A journey to the exciting city with a heavy past that gallops into the future while enjoying the present! Bohemian neighborhoods, quaint tavernas, elegant cafes, and modern shops, combined with a rich history, create the charming profile of a city distinguished for its liveliness and unique aura.

Description

  • Rarely does a city that is moving at a dizzying speed towards the future gather so much interest in its past. However, Belgrade, which we depart for today, unfolds to the traveler through the very contradictions that make it fascinating! Stretched along the banks of the Danube, it is a vibrant city where European elegance merges with the passion of the East. Art Nouveau masterpieces, Ottoman relics, and remnants of socialist architecture coexist with the modern aesthetic that the city seems to be developing in recent years. Transfer to the hotel for check-in. Our afternoon is free to experience the guidance of our tour guide, the vibes that Belgrade's nightlife generously offers us with countless options to explore it.

  • Our walking tour will begin with the city's main thoroughfare, the famous pedestrian street Kneza Mihailova, introducing us to the city's hip image with its 19th-century historic buildings, modern commercial shops, elegant cafes, and restaurants. After seeing the Metropolitan, we will proceed to the symbol of Belgrade: Built right on the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the famous Kalemegdan Fortress offers a breathtaking view of New Belgrade and Zemun. From afar, the Nebojsa Tower, once a fortress in the city's defense against the Turks, rises to the eye fearless (which is what its name means). Afternoon free.

  • Today's panoramic tour, after crossing the Branko Bridge over the Sava River that separates the old from the new city, will take us to modern Belgrade. Here, commercial stores, modern cafes, and street artists take center stage once again. To return to the old town, we cross the new Adda bridge and then the Topsinider park. The route will take us to the most aristocratic area of Belgrade. Here we will visit Tito's mausoleum, then we will see the Church of St. Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, Slavija Square, and a whole block of buildings bombed by NATO bombings to remind us of the violence of war. The Government Building, the Parliament, the City Hall, and the Square of Democracy complete our tour of the city.
Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at your disposal.

  • Immediately after breakfast, we depart for our excursion to Northern Serbia. Crossing the vast Vojvodina plain, we will first visit the Hopovo monastery, one of the many in the Fruška Gora region.
Following is the beautiful town of Sremski Karlovci with the church of St. Nicholas, the old Patriarchate, the Theological School, the first Serbian high school, and other exceptional examples of historical architecture.
However, the highlight of the day is undoubtedly our visit to a local winery in Novi Sad, where we will taste wine varieties and honey. Built on the banks of the Danube, Novi Sad served as a commercial stopover. The National Theater, the City Hall, and the Catholic Church of Our Lady give a rich sample of the second largest city in Serbia. We return to Belgrade in the afternoon. Our suggestion for the evening (individual expenses) is dinner accompanied by traditional music in the cobblestone area of Skandarlia, famous for its picturesque tavernas, raki, and of course, its excellent cuisine with wonderful specialties.

  • In the conclusion of our journey, the few free hours we have in Belgrade are perfect for shopping and picking up last-minute souvenirs, but also for taking in a bit more of the city that we are convinced has won you over with its liveliness and vibrant personality!
Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
