After we have our breakfast and are in the best mood, we board the bus and head to the city's central square for our tour. As a starting point, its historic center, a meeting and interaction place for the people of the city and the hub of its beautiful, restored mansions. Niki Square is right in the center, as it hosts many of Kozani's neoclassical buildings, such as the listed Erimionion Hotel, the City Hall, and the branch of the National Bank of Greece. A few minutes from the square is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, the metropolitan church of Agios Nikolaos, with its impressive bell tower. Continue your stroll with a visit to the Historical-Folklore Museum of Kozani, which houses hundreds of extremely interesting exhibits of historical and folklore character as well as a gallery. Less than ten minutes away is the Koventareios Municipal Library, a true gem for the city, both with its completely modern exterior design and its internal educational wealth. As the day progresses and midday arrives, the festive atmosphere reaches its peak with the parade of floats and the thousands of people in costume. After the parade in the central square, we will revive one of the most well-known Kozanite customs, the lighting of the Fanou, a large fire that, as they say, drives away evil. After the lighting of the central Fanou, smaller fires are lit in every neighborhood, and the celebration begins, with a lot of dancing and singing, with plenty of wine and local pies. All this accompanied by the Khrysanthos, local brass bands with wind instruments, playing lively pieces that set the rhythm of the celebration. Free time here, and we will also enjoy our lunch. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
